Devine City Council votes to take on fuel sales at airport

The City of Devine will sell fuel at the municipal airport.

The Devine City Council voted to move forward with selling fuel publicly at the Devine Municipal Airport in a Special meeting held Monday, March 5.
David Ehlinger, owner of Aviation Fuels, Inc., had been seeking approval to sell fuel at the airport privately.
Ehlinger had proposed giving the City six cents of every gallon of fuel sold.
A David Espinosa motion to allow Ehlinger to sell fuel died for lack of a second. A Steve Lopez-David Valdez motion for the City to sell fuel at the airport passed 4-1, with Cory Thompson and Kathy Wilkins voting for the motion and Espinosa voting against it.
Airport Advisory Board Chairman Curly Brehm announced his resignation from the Board in a letter to the editor printed in the Feb. 28 edition of The Devine News. Council voted 4-1 on a Lopez-Thompson motion to accept Brehm’s resignation. Espinosa dissented.
Council unanimously approved an Espinosa-Thompson motion to allow Interim City Administrator Dora Rodriguez to enter into a contract with Eckmann Groll, Inc., to appraise Hangar 6 at the airport.
Eckmann Groll, Inc. is a commercial appraisal company that specializes in multi-parcel projects for governmental entities. According to Eckmann Groll’s website, clients include the City of San Antonio, San Antonio River Authority, San Antonio Water System, Bexar County, and the Texas Department of Transportation, among others.
A more in-depth article on the meeting will run in a future issue of The Devine News.
