Clara Maria Friedrich Lindig, age 94, of Atascosa, passed away on November 21, 2018 at her home. She was born July 24, 1924 in Fredericksburg, to Henry F. and Elisa Wahl Friedrich. She was baptized on August 31, 1924 and confirmed on April 2, 1939 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg, Texas.
She attended Pecan Creek School, which was a mile and a half from the ranch house, through the pasture. She walked to school or rode the family donkey when it was available.
On September 11, 1946, Clara married Clinton Armie Lindig at Bethany Lutheran Church. In 1952, they moved from Blanco, Texas to San Antonio to be closer to Clinton’s job at Kelly Air Force Base. Clinton passed away April 23, 1981. Clara and Clinton were blessed with thirty-four years of marriage and three sons.
Clara was a member of Zion Lutheran Church for sixty-six years and a member of the Medina Valley VFW Post #8134 Ladies Auxiliary.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Elisa Friedrich; husband, Clinton Lindig; sister, Hulda Klein; brothers, Edmund, Gus, Heinrich and Elgin Friedrich and twins, Emil and Elisa Friedrich, who died at three months; and daughters-in-law, Marilyn Lindig and Sandy Lindig.
Survivors include her three sons, Jerome Lindig, Ronnie Lindig and his wife, Irene, and Melvin Lindig; five grandchildren, David Lindig (Sara), Clinton Lindig (Roxanne), Allen Lindig, Melissa Lindig and Marcus Lindig; two great-grandchildren, Natalie Cook and Alexander Lindig; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be Monday, December 3, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 10:30 am at Zion Lutheran Church, 1106 Fiorella Street, Castroville, Texas. Interment will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in Clara’s memory to Zion Lutheran Cemetery or the Friedrich Cemetery Fund in Fredericksburg.
