Brown Chevrolet collects food for local food bank

Brown Chevrolet will be participating in a food drive designed to assist local food banks restock their shelves. The effort was initiated by KSAT 12 as a community service because the San Antonio Food Bank, which services all the surrounding area food banks, is running dangerously low on food.
“Michael Guerra of the SA Food Bank recently approached KSAT12 about a dangerously low level of food reserved and is spotlighting Hunger Action Month in an effort to restock shelves in time for fall and the holidays,” the TV station said in a new release.” In order to maximize the effort to collect food items, the SA Area Chevy Dealers have agreed to ‘stuff a Chevy Silverado’ at each location with food donated by local residents.”
The most needed food items are: Peanut Butter, Cereal, Tuna, Beans, Canned Soups, Rice, Mac & Cheese, Chili, Canned Stews, Canned Luncheon Meats, Full Meals (either can or box), and Pop Top Food Items.
Local residents can visit Brown Chevrolet at 340 IH 35 North in Devine during regular business hours to make donations for the remainder of the month of September. The food that is collected in a town will stay in that town. There’s just one week left so take you contribution in and help feed those who are hungry as the winter and holidays approach.
