Bernal XC Runner of the Week

Brianna Bernal earned last week’s Cross Country Runner of the Week honors after stepping up and filling some huge shoes this past weekend at the FEAST invitational. While Brooke Runyan was competing in her other fall sport, tennis, Bri ran her personal best by a whopping one minute and four seconds.
“Bri had a great run Saturday,” stated Head Coach Khera Vay. “She finished 15 out of 156 runners, and helped the Arabians secure a 2nd place finish for the second consecutive week. Bri’s leadership role also shined for a fellow Arabian. Maria Murillo gave her own personal meet success credit to Bri for helping push her through the final mile of the race. Bri’s leading by example and her concern for her teammates are always first on her mind.”
As for Bri, she said, “From the time that I started in the beginning of the season, I did not expect such a decrease in my time in only one month. I have improved by a lot. My teammates and Coach Vay provided me my motivation to keep working harder. I would not be where I am right now without them. I cannot wait to see what’s next.”
Neither can we, Bri! Congratulations on being named Runner of the Week!
