The Devine Arabian track team won its first District Track Championship since 2009, scoring 215 points to 2nd place finisher Carrizo Springs’ 170. Pearsall came in 3rd place with 97 points while 4th place finisher Crystal City had 74 and 5th place Lytle had 45.
Needless to say, Head Track Coordinator Lynn Cozby was excited about the amount of points scored by his Arabian team and by the number of different competitors that achieved those points.
“Wow 215 points! We have 17 girls that qualified for area. They were amazing,” said Cozby. Many Arabian runners, throwers, and jumpers set personal marks during this competition. They seemed focused and determined to win a 1st place, District Championship plaque back in the trophy case at DHS where it rightfully belongs.
Combine the 17 Arabians with the 12 Warhorses adds up to 29 total track members making the short trip to Poteet on April 19th. No other team in district can stake that claim.
