Arabians building on little victories

The Arabians played La Vernia and Holy Cross this week.
Devine vs. La Vernia
They came up short while playing La Vernia losing in three; 17-25, 15-25, and 24-26.
“We played really timid in set 1 and 2,” Coach Leigh Anne McIver said “but we came back with fight and determination in set 3 and played great.”
The Arabians scored 3 aces; Sydney Rendon, Makennna Morales, and Addie Trojanowski all scored one each. They were able to get 23 kills; Sierra Pompa 11, Chesney Friesenhahn 8, Addie Trojanowski 3, and Caimee Fowler 1. Helping with those kills were the 22 assists; Trojanowski 17, Rendon 4, and Morales 1.
Defensively, Friesenhahn blocked 3 times. They also had 65 digs; Morales 25, Friesenhahn 10, Trojanowski 10, Rendon 6, Alissa Stehle 6, Amanda Richardson 4, Elizabeth Puente 2, Dana Aaron 1, and Fowler 1.
“Even though we didn’t walk away with a win, we had little victories through the night that we can build on,” Coach McIver said.
Devine vs. Holy Cross
The Arabians lost in 4 to Holy Cross this past Friday; 20-25, 24-26, 25-13, and 20-25.
“We had some really great moments in this game,” Coach McIver said. “We just made many unforced errors when it really counted.”
They were able to score 7 aces; Morales 4, Trojanowski 1, Friesenhahn 1, and Amamnda Richardson 1. They also had 35 kills; Pompa 13, Trojanowski 12, Friesenhahn 7, Fowler 2, and Alissa Stehle 1. To help with the kills were the 32 assists; Trojanowski 20, Rendon 7, Morales 3, and Friesenhahn 2.
There was one block made by Pompa. They also had 78 digs; Morales 30, Rendon 15, Friesenhahn 9, Trojanowski 8, Puente 8, Pompa 4, Aaron 1, Stehle 1, Runyan 1, and Richardson 1.
“I really think that we walked away from this game learning a few more things that are really going to benefit us in the long run,” Coach McIver said.
