Arabians attend St. Mary’s Hall tournament

The Arabians played against six teams at their tournament this past weekend; Somerset, Cornerstone, Needville, Blanco, St. Anthony’s, and Needville again.

“We played pretty well for our first two games,” Coach Leigh Anne McIver said. “I think we came out real tight against Needville and that really carried throughout the whole match. We made some great plays but at times we weren’t relaxed and playing our game. We got second in our pool and advanced to the championship bracket.”
They beat Somerset in two games, 25-19 and 25-7. They scored 3 aces; Makenna Morales, Addie Trojanowski, and Amanda Richardson all scored one each. They had 25 kills; Trojanowski 9, Sierra Pompa 6, Chesney Friesenhahn 5, Dana Aaron 2, Megan Runyan 2, and Sydney Rendon 1. Assisting with the kills was Rendon 12 and Trojanowski 11.
The two blocks were scored by Aaron and Runyan. They also scored 40 digs against Somerset; Morales 13, Friesenhahn 9, Trojanowski 5, Rendon 4, Richardson 3, Puente 2, Pompa 1, Aaron 1, Stehle 1, and Runyan 1.
Against Cornerstone, they won in two games, 25-15 and 25-16. They had 8 aces; Trojanowski 5, Morales 1, Richardson 1, and Puente 1. Overall they had 20 kills; Pompa 9, Trojanowski 6, Friesenhahn 4, and Aaron 1. The Arabians had 3 girls assist; Trojanowski 9, Rendon 6, and Morales 2.
Blocks were made by Pompa (1), Aaron (1) and Fowler (1). They had 43 digs; Morales 13, Richardson 9, Trojanowski 6, Friesenhahn 5, Stehle 4, Rendon 3, Pompa 2, and Julie Ortiz 1.
The final game on day one was against Needville. They lost in two games, 18-25 and 18-25. The only ace served was by Richardson. They had a total of 18 kills; Trojanowski 5, Friesenhahn 5, Pompa 4, Runyan 3, and Stehle 1. They also had 18 assists; Trojanowski 10, Rendon 7 and Friesenhahn 1.
The total blocks were 3; Stehle, Friesenhahn, and Trojanowski all had 1. The girls scored 42 digs; Morales 11, Friesenhan 10, Rendon 5, Pompa 4, Stehle 3, Trojanowski 3, Aaron 2, Richardson 2, Runyan 1, and Puente 1.
On day two, they started with Blanco winning in three games, 17-25, 25-21, and 15-9. They had 2 aces, Morales and Richardson. They had 21 kills; Trojanowski 8, Pompa 6, Friesenhahn 5, and Stehle 2. Three girls helped with assisting; Trojanowski 11, Rendon 6, and Morales 2.
Offensively, Aaron scored 3 blocks. They also had 66 digs; Morales 18, Friesenhahn 15, Rendon 9, Trojanowski 7, Richardson 7, Pompa 3, and Runyan 2.
Next was St. Anthony where they lost in two games, 22-25 and 20-25. The only aces were served by Stehle and Trojanowski. They had 20 kills; Trojanowski 6, Friesnhahn 5, Pompa 4, Stehle 3, Aaron 1, and Runyan 1. There were 20 assists; Trojanowski 11, and Rendon 9.
The only block was scored by Trojanowski. They also had 48 digs; Morales 22, Richardson 7, Friesenhahn 6, Trojanowski 5, Stehle 4, Runyan 2, Aaron 1, and Rendon 1.
The final game was against Needville. They lost in two games, 16-25 and 21-25. Two aces were served by Stehle and Friesenhahn. They had a total of 20 kills; Pompa 10, Friesenhahn 7, and Trojanowski 3. There were 19 assists; Trojanowski 15, Rendon 2, Stehle 1, and Morales 1.
There were 3 total blocks; Friesenhahn 2, and Trojanowski 1. They also had 48 blocks; Morales 15, Trojanowski 8, Pompa 7, Friesenhahn 6, Rendon 6, Richardson 3, Runyan 2, and Stehle 1.
Friesenhahn was also named All-Tournament team.
“Overall this was a good tournament,” Coach McIver said. “It lets us know what we need to work on to be successful the rest of the season and into playoffs.”
