On July 7th, 2018 the Alvarado family celebrated their family reunion. We hold our reunions every two years and this year one hundred and twenty-nine families strong were in attendance with 34 visitors/relatives gathered at the Alvarado ranch east of Devine.
We dedicated this reunion in honor of two family deceased, our aunt Rosa Tellez Alvarado and cousin Trinidad Cantu Jr II. The honor dedication was celebrated with a small memorial service, free flying balloons and a presentation of memorial plaques and crosses.
Families travelled many miles to attend from as far as Bremen Germany, Oklahoma, the Texas Panhandle, the valley of South Texas, San Antonio and locally to celebrate our family event. I am proud and grateful to see new young faces come out as we continue to celebrate our family reunions.
Everyone enjoyed BBQ brisket, ribs and chicken along with all the trimmings and various desserts. As the day progressed game matches of Horseshoes, Washers, Volleyball and Bingo for the adults were enjoyed and have become competitive throughout the years. Activities for children included a Fishpond, Basketball Free throws and swimming. Needless to say everyone had a great time and we look forward to the 2020 reunion.

Jesus Sr. Alvarado – Robert (Bobby) Alvarado, Rosalinda Alvarado Curiel, Jesse Alvarado, Janie Alvarado Niesen, Norma Alvarado and all their children. Maria Alvarado Cantu – Petra Cantu Pena, Martha Cantu Gourley, Arturo Cantu, Robert (Bobby) Cantu and all their children. Ramon Alvarado – Rebecca (Becky) Flores, George Alvarado, Tony Alvarado, Raul Alvarado, Joe Alvarado, Mike Alvarado, Christine Alvarado Vasquez, Patricia Alvarado Garza, Isabel Alvarado Lopez Dillard, Shirley Alvarado and all their children.
