Agapito Y. Resendez, age 82, of La Coste, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017 in San Antonio. Agapito came from a large family of ten children born to Lazaro and Emiliana Ybarra Resendez. He was born in La Coste on September 20, 1934. On November 30, 1959 he married Antonia Rodriguez. They were blessed with almost 58 years of marriage.
Agapito worked in the road construction business for many years. After he retired from road construction work he was the groundskeeper for Our Lady of Grace Catholic Cemetery. He continued maintaining the cemetery for several years until he was no longer able to work. Agapito was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and the Guadalupanos.
Agapito was preceded in death by his parents, Lazaro and Emiliana Resendez; brother, Jesus Resendez; sisters, Juanita Lopez, Manuela Castro, Cristina Salas, Gregoria Aguilera and Josefina Garcia.
Survivors include his wife, Antonia Resendez of La Coste; son and daughter-in-law, Ruben and Mary Resendez of La Coste; Grandsons, Ruben (Amalie) Resendez, Jr., of San Antonio, David (Celina) Resendez of San Antonio, Joseph (Kristina) Resendez of Somerset; great-grandchildren, Jocelyn, Katalina, Isabella, Daniel, Alexander, Adrian and Ryan; sisters, Francisca (Remegio) Rodriguez of Zapata, Maria Carillo of La Coste and Ester Calmenro of Dallas; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation was Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 12:00 pm to 5:30 pm at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. The Holy Rosary was recited at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection was Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 9:30 am at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Interment followed at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Cemetery.
