September 22nd was a full day of volleyball for the Maroon 8th grade Maroon Fillys. After watching the Gold Fillys win, the Maroon team took the court against Natalia and won in two sets. It was in the championship game against Pleasanton that the Fillys met their match. The Pleasanton Eagles played just slightly better than the Fillys and the Eagles won in two sets. Despite the loss, the Fillys had some great plays and it was an exciting game to watch. The Maroon Fillys won second place in their home tournament.
“It is tough to explain to a group of young girls that they have never played better but they still lost the game. The improvement we got from playing a game like that is very valuable to our season. We will only get better and better as we move forward,” said Coach Julie Oropeza.
