8th grade Fillys vs Crystal City

In their second match up against Crystal City of the season, the 8th Grade Gold Fillys lost in two very close games. Both games ended 16-17 in Crystal City’s favor but it was still a great game of teamwork and determination on the Fillys’ side of the net.
“Our team struggled but still fought hard today. We will regroup tomorrow at practice and be ready for our next match.”- Coach Julie Oropeza.
Becca Mares served 7 points with 1 hit, 1 assist and 1 kill. Amayia Macias served 4 points and Angelina Rios served 5 points with 1 ace, 1 hit, and 1 kill.
The 8th grade Fillys have only two games left in Pearsall October 22nd and at home October 29th against Carrizo Springs.
Maroon Fillys
It was a real team win against Crystal City when the 8th Grade Maroon Fillys beat them on October 8th. “We were playing short-handed, missing three girls. But our group overcame the adversity to win this game. Good hustling and strong serving were keys for us,” said Coach Julie Oropeza.
With 10 points from serving and 2 digs, Avery Cruz was on top of her game. Kaitlin Morales served 7 points with 1 hit and 1 kill. Amber DuBose served 2 aces in 4 serving points. Zoe Gonzales had 2 serving points, 3 hits, and 1 kill. With 2 kills in 6 hits Korynn Arche was a strong player at the net. Kristina Morales, Arsci Lopez, Bailey Oropeza and Karsyn Brown completed the winning team with defense contributions.
