7th grade Colts beat Pearsall

7th Grade Gold
With a 3-0 record, the 7th Grade Gold Colts are off to an impressive season. Led by Coach Jacob Sanchez, the Colts faced Pearsall on December 6th and won 27-10. Pearsall played aggressively but the Colts were ready for that and played even harder.
“The boys competed well and we came out with the win. I am proud of the boy’s competitiveness throughout the entire game. Adrian Gutierrez had a great game both offensively and defensively. We played great team ball for our 3rd win of the season,” said Coach Sanchez.
Adrian Gutierrez scored 8 points, Sebastian Espinoza 4, Roger Gutierrez 3, and Victor Schaefer, Diego Estrada, Zack Serna, Jordan Barton, Jose Morales, and Cory Dirck each scored 2.
7th Grade Maroon
In their first win of the season, the 7th Grade Maroon Colts won big over Pearsall 58-28. “Against a team like Pearsall, you have to be ready to play from the tip off and we were not. We fell behind fast and competed to get back into the game. We started the game 23-5 after the 1st quarter. These young men showed a lot of heart to keep going after a slow 2nd quarter start. Brandon Martinez played an amazing game. We are excited about this group of young men going forward for this season. This is our first win this season and well deserved,” said Coach Sanchez.
Brandon Martinez led the scoring with 21 points, Elijah Sanchez 10, Quenton Sanders 8, Sammy Guardiola, Josiah Martinez and Adrian Beltran with 4 each, Aaron Bonilla 3, and Zander Morris 2. Scores by quarter: Q1 23-5, Q2 32-21, Q3 44-22, Q4 58-28. The Maroon Colts are 1-2 for the season.
Coming up for the Colts is Poteet on December 17 and then Crystal City after the winter break on January 10th.
