57th Annual Devine Fall Festival Nov. 4

The carnival will be open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Nov. 2-4.

Mark your calendars now for the 57th Annual Devine Fall Festival and Parade set for Saturday, November 4, 2017 sponsored by the Devine Chamber of Commerce. Activities include the annual parade, Avocado cooking contest, arts and crafts booths, food booths, and entertainment from 12 noon until 12 midnight.
The carnival kicks off the events on Thursday, November 2 and carries on Friday, November 3 and Saturday, November 4. The carnival will be set up on the grounds of the Devine Community Center and Driscoll Public Library.
The annual parade will start off the Saturday events at 10:00 am. The parade route will start at the corner of FM 2200 and Highway 173. As in years past, the line-up will be down FM 2200, along Arabian Way and into the DSAC parking lot. The parade will continue up Hwy 173, turn right onto S Teel (Hwy 132), and turn up College Ave and end at the Devine VFW Post. This year’s Grand Marshall is Cleto Rodriguez.
“I have been so blessed to not only do stand-up comedy, but to entertain people in a variety ways,” Rodriguez is quoted as saying on his website. “A passion of mine is using television to reach people’s funny bone, even if it’s early for the morning news. ‘Where’s Cleto?’ is a man on the street segment, which has given me another opportunity to showcase my abilities to be quick-witted and hilarious in so many different situations. The ‘Where’s Cleto?’ brand has been part of the News 4 San Antonio news cast and has now expanded to Fox News First on Ch29. That’s twice the fun!”
Inside the Devine Community Center will be a variety of arts and crafts booths, as well as the Avocado Cooking Contest and Mr. Blain Eaton with South Texas Entomology. The cooking contest will begin at 1:00 pm with entries including appetizer, dessert, entrée, leaf dish and other. Entries can be submitted from 11:30 am until 12 noon.
The Shawnee Indian Dancers will start off the entertainment on center stage on the grounds of Security Bank at 12:15 pm. Lytle’s own Matt Hawk will take the stage at 1:45 pm. Mr. Keith Lutz and The String Slingers are up at 4:30 pm. New Braunfels’ own The Scott Wiggins Band takes the stage at 7:15 pm, followed by Devine’s Jeremy Richards Band at 10:00 pm.
