17th Annual Arabian Volleyball Round-up this weekend

Sixteen teams from all around the region will travel to Devine this coming weekend for the 17th Annual Devine Arabian Volleyball Round-up. The host Arabians (4-4) as well as the Natalia Lady Mustangs (2-8) are two of three Medina County squads who will compete (D’Hanis) in the three day event.
This year’s tournament will consist of two days of pool games followed by a full day of bracket games on Saturday, which will include a Championship and Consolation Bracket.
A total of 28 games will take place during the three-day event and Devine Athletics is hoping the community will come out and not only support the locals from Devine and Natalia, but all athletes who will be hard at work on the competition floor.
“We are excited to be hosting the tournament again and have some new teams in the tournament this year,” Devine Arabian Leigh Anne McIver said. “I expect it to be a competitive tournament again.”
On Thursday, pool play begins at 10:00 a.m. and games will be as follows: 10:00 a.m.- Pleasanton vs. Brackett ( HS), Devine vs. Highlands (DSAC). 11:00 a.m.- Fox Tech vs. Natalia (HS), Jourdanton vs. Runge (DSAC). 12:00- Pleasanton vs. Fox Tech (HS), Devine vs. Jourdanton (DSAC). 1:00 p.m.- Brackett vs. Natalia (HS), Devine vs. Runge (DSAC). 2:00 p.m.- Pleasanton vs. Natalia (HS), Highlands vs. Runge (DSAC). 3:00 p.m. Brackett vs. Natalia (HS), Jourdanton vs. Runge (DSAC).
On Friday, the final two pools will compete and the schedule will be as follows: 10:00 a.m.- FEAST vs. D’Hanis (HS), Marion vs. Crystal City (DSAC). 11:00 a.m.- CC King vs. Dilley, Faith Academy vs. Somerset (DSAC). 12:00- FEAST vs. CC King (HS), Marion vs. Faith Academy (DSAC). 1:00 p.m.- D’Hanis vs. Dilley (HS), Crystal City vs. Somerset (DSAC). 2:00 p.m.- FEAST vs. Dilley (HS), Marion vs. Somerset (DSAC). 3:00 p.m.- CC King vs. Dilley (HS) and Faith Academy vs. Somerset (DSAC).
Pool games will consist of two out of three games to 25 with a cap at 30.
Bracket play will begin Saturday morning with games starting at 9:00 a.m. in both the Championship and Consolation Brackets. The top two teams in each pool will advance to the Championship Bracket with the bottom two advancing to the Consolation Bracket.
The Championship bracket consolation title game will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the High School with the 3rd place game at 2:00 p.m. at the DSAC and the Title game at 3:00 p.m. at the DSAC.
The Consolation Title game for the Consolation Bracket will be held at 12:00 p.m. at the MS with the 3rd place game set for 1:00 p.m. at the MS and the Championship at 2:00 p.m. also at the Devine Middle School.
All bracket games will also be two out of three to 25 with a cap at 30.
*Games will begin EARLY if possible, so come out this weekend and support Devine, Natalia and the additional 14 talented teams headed to Big D for a weekend of volleyball action!
A season ago, Devine was able to knock off CC King in the Championship of their home tournament. Highlands was able to win 3rd place as the Jourdanton Squaws won Consolation.
In the Consolation Bracket, FEAST won the title, Crystal City won 3rd place and D’Hanis won Consolation.
