106 Class C citations issued

I’ll start with a snapshot of last week’s activity. We had 52 calls for service which included 6 vehicle lockouts, 6 alarm responses and 10 calls for suspicious persons/vehicles/activity. On the traffic enforcement side we issued 106 Class C citations, the majority of those were for speeding and no insurance. Keep in mind that we rarely do much traffic enforcement on IH-35, we simply have too many traffic issues and patrol needs in our business and residential areas. I personally avoid working traffic on the interstate for another reason, I’m afraid a big truck will run me over.
We only had one theft reported to us this week; our neighbors over at public works reported a Stihl chainsaw missing. We haven’t even had any good shoplifting cases lately. I guess the crooks have some sort of blog or something and they are all posting not to shoplift in Lytle because the police chief will write about the stuff you steal.
We had few arrests this week, it started with two male juveniles fighting at John Lott Park. They were cited and released to their parents. The next arrest was also a “cite and release” for an intoxicated man at the H.E.B. C-Store, he was released to a family member. The final arrests occurred on Sunday night when Ofc. David Lopez stopped to assist a motorist who had broken down and his vehicle was blocking the roadway. A quick check revealed that both the driver and his passenger had active warrants. The male had a warrant out of Bexar Co. for P.O.M. and also one from our department stemming from a domestic violence case. The female had a warrant out of Medina Co. for filing a false report to a peace officer. I guess it just wasn’t their lucky day.
